The Jesus Society, a Christian Order founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540, has been active in education throughout the world since its origin. In India, the Society of Jesus is currently responsible for more than 110 Middle Schools, 23 University Colleges, 14 Technical Institutes, and 5 other Institutions where more than 1.15,000 young people belong to every religion, social class, community, and language group. is being educated through English media and various regional languages. These institutions are part of the Catholic Church's efforts to share in the country's educational efforts. This effort while being specifically responsible for the Christian community always serves the whole nation. Worldwide, the Society of Jesus is responsible for more than 1865 Educational Institutions in 65 countries. The Jesuit Educational Institution involves the efforts of around 98,000 teachers, who educate around 17, 92,000 students. Jesuit education is inspired by human vision taken from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ which is always respected and admired by Indians. It is also based on the principles of character formation described by Ignatius of Loyola.
