About Us
Osmania General Hospital (OGH) is one of the oldest hospitals in India located at Afzal Gunj, Hyderabad, Telangana. It is run by the Government of Telangana, and is one of the largest in the state. The First Salarjung Thurba Ali Khan who was then Prime Minister conceived the idea of building a new hospital on the Northern Bank of River Moosi. In the year AD. The Afzal Gunj Hospital was built. The hospital earned world wide reputation on account of two Hyderabad chloroform commissions.
This was first hospital to use Hyderabad Chloroform cap which was devised by Dr. Edward Lawrie. He was the Principal of Hyderabad Medical School and Superintendent of Afzal Gunj Hospital for years (-AD)
