The trust was established in 1987 in the memory of late Shri Puran Chandra Gupta, the founder of Dainik Jagran newspaper. His Holiness Late Shri Swami Ram, Spiritual Head of the trust emphasized to establish the best possible education synthesizing the Indian Culture, heritage and traditions with modern education technology. JSL is an educational initiative of Jagran Group which also publishes “Dainik Jagran Newspaper”.
