About Us
It is located in the Nagar Panchayat in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand , India. It is a hindu town on the banks of river Bhagrithi-the origin of the river Ganges. The river is called as the Bhagrithi at the source of and the name Ganga from Devprayag onwords where it meets Alaknanda.The Temple is closed from Diwali day every year and it reopened on Akshaya Tritiya.The Gangotri temple remains closed for the rest of six months. Please visit the temple and see his beauty on yours own eyes .
