The Ahmedabad University campus is located in the heart of Ahmedabad city, one of India’s most historic sites and a commercial hub of western India. The campus is at the centre of the city’s knowledge precinct, an area that is home to some of the finest educational institutions in the country, such as the Indian Institute of Management, CEPT University, Ahmedabad Textile Industry Research Association and more. To this lively, student-friendly intellectual atmosphere, the university brings the physical vibrancy of its mix of heritage buildings and modern architecture, bringing together the modernist aesthetic of its past with the optimistic new modernism of the future. Ahmedabad University is developing this campus over 250 acres. In Phase I of this development, about 70 acres have been earmarked for academic buildings and student amenities. This phase will house ten schools and centres over the next decade. The master planners for the university are HCP Design and Project Management Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad. The campus’s distinctive buildings are designed or currently being planned by a number of renowned architecture firms from around the world, including RMA Associates, Mario Botta Architetto, Vir Muller, SPA Design and Snehal Shah. The Central campus comprises the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Biological and Life Sciences division. It will, in days to come, house the School of Arts and Sciences, the Centre for Performing Arts, and the Student Activity Centre.
